"Heavy-duty corrosion protection" at international level
The efficiency and availability of industrial plants depend on important factors including reliable corrosion protection. Plastics play a significant role in this context. At its technical conference "Heavy-Duty Corrosion Protection" to be held on 24/25 November 2010 in Munich, TÜV SÜD will bring together experts from various countries for the first time for an international exchange of ideas and experience.
From plastic resin coatings to rubber and fluoroplastic linings – plastics play a significant role in the corrosion protection of pipelines, tanks and chimney tubes. "Today, plastics are used as linings and coatings in industrial plants in a host of applications – worldwide. We have responded to this development by organizing an international technical conference", explains Marcus Demetz, Head of the Institute for Plastics of TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH and member of the technical committee of the "Heavy-Duty Corrosion Protection" conference.
The event, to take place on 24 and 25 November 2010, provides attendees with an overview of the current status of German and European standardization. Another important subject is the requirements of the Federal Water Act. In addition to the issues of material selection and quality assurance, the technical conference will focus on practical experience. The range of concrete themes extends from "Workshop and on-site rubber linings" to "Refurbishing of chimney tubes by coating". The talks and reports are given by representatives of renowned companies and well-known international experts. The conference will be flanked by a technical exhibition.
The two-day event targets plant developers and builders, engineers and designers; manufacturers of raw materials and semi-finished products; owners/operators of plants in the chemical and mineral-oil industry, energy suppliers; and representatives of authorities and associations and of research and development.
