FAQ9
(9) How safe are Amusement Rides in tested by TÜV SÜD, Munich?
Accidents in Germany caused by technical failures in the classical sense, e.g. vehicles fall off track or columns, supports, rails broken, are not known.
Incidents caused by human error such as mistakes during assembly, manufacturing etc. are more frequent. Sometimes, however, passengers also endanger themselves through careless behaviour in violation of the regulations.
Accidents involving personal injuries must be communicated officially to the local construction authority. Total accident frequency, however, is low, so that official statistics are not maintained. In Germany, amusement rides (from small carousels to roller coasters) transport approximately 200 million passengers annually.
