TÜV SÜD Czech the First FSC and PEFC Certification Authority in Central and Eastern Europe
TÜV SÜD Czech has been accredited to certify companies pursuant to FSC standards, thus becoming the sole authority in Central and Eastern Europe providing certification for forestry and wood processing industry under both FSC and PEFC certification schemes.
The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) processing chain certification is an evidence of proven origin of wood, paper or derived products. It proves that forests were not plundered or the living conditions of local people were not destroyed by the harvesting of wood raw material. Entrepreneurs who want to prove that their products meet these strict criteria can now make use of the TÜV SÜD´s certification services since the company offers the FSC and PEFC certification as the only regional authority from May 2011 onwards. Within the TÜV SÜD AG holding company, the Czech Republic has become a competency centre for certification in forestry and wood industry with global reach.
"The FSC is promoting close-to-nature and socially responsible forest management. Throughout the world we can see increased consumer interest in goods and products produced while observing ethical standards. I am very glad that also our entrepreneurs will be able to respond to customer demand and make use of the FSC certification to offer products with the FSC logo to their customers,” says Michael Rezek, manager for the forests and timber area in TÜV SÜD Czech. “In addition to toys, furniture or kitchen utensils, the FSC certification also applies for example to DIY goods, railway sleepers, bridges, food packaging or basketball balls.“
The FSC certificate is prestigious company recognition and is generally used to assess the products in the market and boost export opportunities. The FSC certificate is becoming a prerequisite for exporting to many markets, especially in Europe and overseas. Finally, the FSC certificate is the instrument to build or emphasize a company´s responsible and sustainable behaviour.
