Too good to just sleep in (23.11.2009)

  1. A high bed in a child's bedroom offers far more than a place to sleep. The space beneath a high bed can often be used for shelves, a desk or seating, and many beds have additional features such as a slide, climbing frame or tent. However, when a bed is transformed into a play or work landscape, additional requirements must be met by its components. TÜV SÜD's product inspection experts explain what parents should look for when choosing or buying a high bed.

TÜV SÜD provides important tips for selecting and using a microwave oven.

Building&Living – Issue 03/2009 (23.10.2009)

  1. The German Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG) requires that at least part of the energy used for heating systems in new buildings must be drawn from renewable energy sources. In this autumn issue of Building&Living, the experts at TÜV SÜD explain in detail what the new Act means for the planning and building of private projects. From heating to insulation: external thermal composite insulation systems (ETICS) benefit from careful maintenance, which also increases their useful life. In this issue, TÜV SÜD's building technology specialists list the critical points to be aware of with regard to ETICS, and what to do in the event of problems. What general maintenance tasks are due for attention in and around the house in autumn? Our short checklist has the answers. And finally, we take a trip to the cellar: anyone planning to install a gym in their cellar should avoid "sound bridges" to their neighbours. This and other aspects to be considered are examined in more detail by the TÜV SÜD experts.
