European Satellite Navigation Competition 2011
Apply now: GATE Special Topic Prize 2011
From automotive, rail and aircraft to maritime applications, from professional to private customers – the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) 2011 revolves around ingenious ideas for practical applications based on the Galileo satellite navigation system.
Within the scope of the ESNC 2011, NavCert, a company of the TÜV SÜD Group, and IFEN, one of the leading service providers in the field of GNSS (global navigation satellite systems), have announced the GATE Special Topic Prize. The prize will be awarded to the most promising Galileo application. The winning idea will be tested in the German Galileo test and development environment (GATE) in Berchtesgaden and certified by TÜV SÜD. The GATE test range, a project of the German Aerospace Centre (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt ,DLR), is used for testing and developing innovative satellite navigation technologies.
Companies, founders, research institutes, universities and private individuals can still enter the international ideas competition ESNC and the GATE Special Topic Prize until 30 June 2011. Entrants can submit ideas which support the OS ICD of Galileo or GPS/EGNOS or which are separate Galileo solutions. For safety-of-life applications, the organizers prefer solutions which carry out RAIM (receiver autonomous integrity monitoring) integrity testing.
In cooperation with IFEN, NavCert will support the winners of the competition in optimizing their products and improving their marketability. The prize includes testing in GATE and certification by NavCert, the TÜV SÜD subsidiary. The winners may then use the TÜV SÜD certification mark free of charge for one year. The GATE Special Topic Prize has an equivalent value of around 50,000 euros.
