CSA & Report
Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA) and Chemical Safety Report
Chemical safety assessment (CSA) must be performed for all substances > 10 t/a. However, there are certain exceptions. The results of the chemical safety assessment are documented in the chemical safety report (CSR). The activities involved must be carried out by expert personnel.
The chemical safety report is an integral element of the technical dossier to be submitted for registration. It also includes appropriate measures for adequate risk control resulting from the respective substance. Every registrant recommends the inclusion of these measures in the safety data sheet.
Chemical safety assessment involves researching or determining a host of data pertaining to the substance in question:
- Human health hazards
- Physical/chemical hazards
- Environmental hazards
- Persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) and very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) properties
After registration, the chemical safety report (CSR) must be kept up to date.
